Pierre, S.D. (AP) – The state Game, Fish and Parks Department
will be surveying hunters to find out who’s using walk-in hunting
areas and why.
The GF&P pays landowners to allow hunting on private land.
The program started 22 years ago and now has 1.3 million acres
enrolled. The department budgeted $2.1 million for the program this
year.
The department will survey hunters to find out what they are
hunting, how often they use walk-in areas, and how they rate their
experience.
The GF&P says it will focus particular attention on the
northwestern part of the state with a more in-depth evaluation
there.
