Pike County is known as the “Deer Capital” of Illinois and now
the Land of Lincoln now has its own Catfish Capital.
Does your town deserve such an honor?
Dixon, a small town that features a catfish-rich stretch of the
Rock River, is now officially the catfish capital of Illinois. The
honor comes just as the Cabela’s King Kat Catfishing Tournament
rolls into town.
State Rep. Jerry Mitchell, R-Sterling, presented Dixon Mayor Jim
Burke this week with a copy of a resolution recently adopted by the
Illinois House to recognize the city.
This brings up some possibilities: coyote capital of Illinois?
Crow capital?
