Commissioners take comments about S.D. lion season

Yankton, S.D. (AP) – The Game, Fish and Parks Commission will
finalize two deer hunting seasons and take public comment about
mountain lions at a meeting in Yankton.

The commission’s agenda includes a public hearing Thursday
afternoon on a proposed hunting season for lions that would start
Jan. 1. It would set a harvest quota of 35 lions total or 20 female
lions.

The commission won’t take final action on the lion season until
its July meeting in Pierre.

Commissioners are set to finalize the Black Hills and West River
deer hunting seasons at its Yankton meeting.
