Pickford Area

Walleye fishing has been pretty good in Munuscong Bay and perch
are starting to show, up too. The perch bite in Lake Huron at
Cedarville has been fair. There is about 30 inches of snow on the
ground. Hunting pressure has been light.

Drummond Island Area

Fishing has been a little slow around Drummond Island. Perch and
ciscoes are hitting waxies in Whitney Bay. A few perch and pike are
being taken in Scotts Bay. There was up to 3 feet of snow in the
woods. Hunting has been slow.

Grand Marais Area

Fishing action has been slow on the Carp River, but steelheaders
should start getting out soon. There was 40 inches of snow on the
ground. Hunting pressure has been light.

Curtis Area

Fishing is picking up a little on Manistique Lakes. Pike fishing
has been the best, with several good fish being taken on Big
Manistique and South Manistique. A few walleyes also are being
caught. Perch fishing has been slow, but some in the 14-inch range
have been caught. There was up to 3 feet of snow in the woods, and
hunting pressure has been light.

Marquette Area

Frigid weather and high winds have kept anglers off the ice.
Wind has blown the ice out of Lake Superior’s Marquette Harbor.
There is at least 3 feet of snow in the woods. Predator hunting has
been very good.

Escanaba Area

Fishing has been fair on Lake Michigan’s Little Bay de Noc.
Walleyes are providing the best action. The fish are spread out all
over the bay from the north end all the way down to Portage Point.
Perch are hitting at the north end of the bay, north of Gladstone,
in 8 to 38 feet of water. Whitefish are hitting off the mouth of
the harbor in Escanaba in 70 feet of water. There was about 2 feet
of snow on the ground last week and less than a foot on the ice.
Hunting pressure has been light, but those venturing out report
decent success on predators.

Menominee Area

Northern pike are hitting in the Menominee River. Panfish are
hitting in the river off Cottonbach Island and at Shakey Lakes. A
few northern pike also are being taken. There was about 14 inches
of snow on the ground. Fox and coyote hunting has been good. Rabbit
hunting has been fair.

L’Anse Area

Anglers are catching a mixed bag on Lake Superior’s Keweenaw
Bay. There is good ice on the bay, and anglers are catching lakers,
smelt, perch, and herring. There is about 24 inches of snow on the
ground. Predator and rabbit hunting has been pretty good.

Bergland Area

Fishing has been good on Lake Gogebic. Walleye fishing has been
very good in 24 to 26 feet of water. The fish are moving into
shallow water at night. Perch action has improved. Anglers are
catching yellowbellies in 24 to 27 feet of water on wigglers. There
is about 3 feet of snow on the ground. Rabbit hunting has been
decent.

Ontonagon Area

Slush is hampering traffic on area inland lakes, and fishing
pressure has been very light. Fishing on the Mineral River at the
power plant hasn’t got started yet because the power plant is
closed. There is over 3 feet of snow in the woods, and hunting
pressure has been very light.
