Wausau Area

Nice walleyes up to 32 inches have been released recently, with
the best action coming from Lake Wausau and Lake Dubay, as well as
the Wisconsin River and Halfmoon Lake. Key on hard-bottom areas
containing current – below dams, outlets, sloughs, and channels.
Walleyes have been hitting live bait very well, with large fatheads
or small to medium sucker minnows being best. Smallies are in wood
adjacent to current areas, and along riprap and rock outcroppings.
Muskies have been very active. They’re starting in on suckers, but
the bite on crankbaits and jerkbaits has been solid.
