St. Joseph Area

Pier anglers are catching salmon and trout in Lake Michigan.
Anglers fishing on the river side of the pier at St. Joe are
catching good numbers of brown trout. Spawn is working the best,
but frozen shrimp, spoons, and flies also are taking fish.

Union Area

Ice is melting and open water has taken over on most lakes in
Cass County, but anglers are slow to get out.

Kalamazoo Area

Many lakes have opened up around Kalamazoo and anglers are
starting to dial in. Perch are hitting in the open water in the
channel and around the docks on Austin Lake. Crappies and bluegills
are keeping anglers busy on Maple Lake. Steelhead fishing has been
good on the Kalamazoo River below the Allegan Dam. Spawn has
produced the best results. Anglers are catching brown trout in the
Black River and at the mouth of the river at South Haven.

Lake St. Clair

Ice has deteriorated on Lake St. Clair and fishing has stalled.
A few anglers are jigging for walleyes in the Detroit River, but
ice floes are keeping pressure to a minimum. Anglers should use
extreme caution in the river. Steelhead fishing has been good on
the Huron River at Flat Rock.

Pontiac Area

Some of the smaller lakes in Oakland County had opened up as of
late last week, but anglers were slow to get out fishing. Suckers
and a few steelhead were being caught in the Clinton River.
Crawlers were taking suckers, and steelies were hitting spawn and
spinners.

Saginaw Bay Area

Ice was holding up, but melting fast, last week on Saginaw Bay,
where walleye fishing has been good. The best action has been
coming to anglers fishing minnows in the evenings in 7 to 10 feet
of water at Whites Beach, Erickson Road, and off Callahan Road.
Good numbers of perch were being caught off Palmer Road and off
Geiger Road.

Caseville Area

The Pigeon River was running high and muddy last week, but
anglers were enjoying one of the best sucker runs in years.
Crawlers were catching fish. A few lakers also are being caught in
the river. There is no safe ice, but anglers fishing through the
ice in the harbor off the floating docks are catching a fair number
of perch. Whitefish are hitting minnows fished off the end of the
breakwall in Lake Huron.

Lexington Area

Launches are in on Lake Huron. Anglers report catching a few
steelhead at the creek mouths. Those trolling body baits have been
enjoying the best results. Fishing pressure has been light.

Port Huron

A fair number of walleyes are being caught in the St. Clair
River, upstream from the Black River. Steelhead and brown trout are
hitting at the mouth of the Black River.
