Traverse City Area
Steelhead fishing has been fair on the Boardman River. Anglers
drifting wax worms report the best success. Smelt and whitefish are
hitting at night on Crystal Lake. Perch fishing has been good on

Houghton Lake Area
Panfish action has been good on Houghton Lake. Bluegill fishing
is improving. Try the south shore weedbed with wax worms. Crappie
fishing has been good around Flint Road, and perch are hitting
minnows fished off the Cut River.

Higgins Lake Area
Smelt fishing remains strong on Higgins Lake. Anglers fishing at
night report the best results when fishing in 40 to 50 feet of
water near Big Creek. A fair number of lakers are hitting in 80 to
100 feet of water. The perch bite has been fair, but lots of small
fish are being caught.

Hubbard Lake Area
Perch fishing has been very good on Hubbard Lake. Anglers
fishing in 6 to 8 feet of water along the south end of East Bay,
and north of the West Branch River are catching limits of
Side Door Bait and Tackle, (989) 736-6418.
Fishing has generally been slow around Alpena. A few perch are
hitting on Long and Graham lakes. Crappie and bluegill fishing has
been fair at Fletcher Floodwaters. Whitefish action has been slow
on Lake Huron.
