Union Area

Anglers are starting to ice fish on the smaller lakes in the
area where there is up to 4 inches of ice. Bluegills and crappies
are hitting wax worms and minnows on Eagle Lake.

Three Rivers Area

Ice fishing is beginning, but safe ice is still forming on most
lakes. Anglers should use extreme caution. Bluegills and crappies
are hitting wax worms fished in the shallows on Sunset Lake and
Cory Lake. Late goose hunting should be good with plenty of birds
around.

Holland Area

Ice is running up to 4 inches thick on some of the smaller lakes
in the area. Bluegills are hitting on Sterns and Millhouse bayous
and on Emerson Lake. Late-season deer hunters reported a good hunt.
Rabbit hunting has been good.

Lake St. Clair

Ice is forming on Lake St. Clair where there is up to 3 inches.
Anglers are starting to get out in the shallows and are catching
fair numbers of perch.

Pontiac Area

Ice is running up to 4 inches thick on area lakes. Anglers are
catching bluegills on Pontiac and Long lakes. A few pike also have
been caught. Late antlerless deer season was fair. Coyote and
rabbit hunting have been good.

Saginaw Bay Area

Shore ice is forming on Saginaw Bay where there is up to 4
inches of ice. Anglers are catching fair numbers of perch, but are
having to sort through their catch for the keepers. Rabbit and
coyote hunting have been decent. Late goose season should be
good.

Lansing Area

Ice is still forming on most lakes in the area. Anglers are
catching pike on Lake Lansing, and bluegills and crappies are
hitting on Narrow Lake. Anglers report a slow bite on the Grand
River. Rabbit hunting has been good. There’s 3 inches of snow on
the ground.

Weidman Area

Ice is running up to 8 inches thick on most area lakes and early
season fishing has been great. Bluegills, crappies, and pike are
hitting on Haymarsh Lake. Walleye anglers report decent action on
Lake Isabella. On the Martini Chain of Lakes ‘gills and crappies
are keeping anglers busy. Rabbit hunting has been good.

Muskegon Area

Ice is forming in the bays on Muskegon Lake and most of the
other lakes in the area, but foot travel is not recommended.
Launches are frozen up, too, making access difficult. For anglers
who can get out at the city launch site, pike fishing has been
great, walleye fishing has been good, and perch action has been
slow.

Caseville Area

Anglers fishing in the harbor on Lake Huron at Caseville report
up to 6 inches of ice and a good perch bite. Anglers also are
catching a few pike and occasionally a lake trout. In Lake Huron,
where there is up to 4 inches of ice, anglers are catching perch
off Geiger Road in the Dynamite Cut and off Thomas Road in 7 feet
of water.
