St. Paul DNR wildlife managers would like to discuss Zone 1 realignment west of Highways 71 and 72 with hunters and landowners at a public input meeting on Mar. 29 in Blackduck.

The proposal involves realigning Zone 1 to include Permit Areas
283 and 284, according to Steve Caron, area wildlife supervisor in
Bemidji. The proposed change would lengthen the firearms hunting
season to 16 days in those permit areas, which currently have a
nine-day season. The Zone 1 realignment proposal is among five deer
hunting changes proposed and now open for public comment.

The meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 29 from 6:30-8:30
p.m. in the multi-purpose room at Blackduck High School. Those who
cannot attend the meeting are urged to send e-mail comments to
wildlife@dnr.state.mn.us by Apr. 2.
