Correspondent Madison The 2005 Lake Winnebago sturgeon spearing season opens Feb. 12 at 6:30 a.m. and there’s a new rule that allows the DNR to close the season at the end of the opening day if spearers reach any one of three harvest caps. Madison A DNR rule change that’s in place for 2005 now allows the winter game fish season to run through the first full weekend of March. That means anglers can fish for walleyes, northern pike, and bass on inland waters through Sunday, March 6 this year. In the past, the season always ended March 1.
