Walker, Minn. The Minnesota DNR is reminding Leech Lake anglers and area residents to comment on its proposal to implement experimental regulations for walleyes on Leech Lake.

The first open house, in Walker, will take place on Dec. 16,
from 5:30-9 p.m. at Walker/Hackensack/Akeley High School. A second
open house, also on Dec. 16, will take place from 8 a.m. to 4:30
p.m. at the DNR Central Office in St. Paul, 500 Lafayette Road.

The proposed regulations would limit total possession of
walleyes to four fish, only one of which could exceed 28 inches. It
also would require anglers to return to the water all walleyes in a
protective slot of 18 inches to 28 inches. If implemented, the
regulations would go into effect beginning May 2005 for a period of
five years.
