Madison, Wis. Opening weekend of the Wisconsin firearms deer hunting season resulted in two hunting-related fatalities, one in Juneau County, the other in Rock County.
On Saturday in Juneau County, a member of a 16-person hunting
party shot three times at a deer, in the process hitting a
47-year-old male victim who was helping with the deer drive.
In Rock County on Sunday, a 35-year-old man died of a
self-inflicted gunshot wound that occurred while he was hunting
from a tree stand that was in poor condition and tilting.
