International Falls, Minn. The body of a Koochiching County man was found in a pond where he was fishing trout, authorities said.

James A. Skulan, who lived near Pelland Pit pond, was found by
recovery crews Sept. 18. The 39-year-old man was reported missing
the night before when a friend went to check on him and found
Skulan’s dog sitting on shore and Skulan’s hat floating in the
water. Skulan’s tackle box and ATV also were there.

The pond, on private land, is about 35 to 50 feet deep in some
places and about 300 by 200 yards in diameter. It’s located about
10 miles east of International Falls.
