Grand Rapids, Minn. The Grand Rapids area fisheries office of the Minnesota DNR has scheduled a public informational meeting to gather input on the future management of designated muskellunge lakes in Itasca County.

Those lakes include Deer, Moose, Little Moose, Spider, and North
Star. They’ve been managed as designated muskie lakes since the
1960s, according to Chris Kavanaugh, area fisheries supervisor. On
these lakes there’s a ban on spearing for all species.

The meeting will be held Tuesday, Sept. 16 beginning at 7 p.m.
in the training room at the Minnesota Interagency Fire Center in
Grand Rapids. Comments on the lakes in Itasca County may be
directed to Kavanaugh, DNR Area Fisheries, 1201 E. Hwy. 2, Grand
Rapids, MN 55744, or email at: chris.kavanaugh@dnr.state.mn.us.
Written comments will be accepted until Sept. 27. For more info,
call (218) 327-4262.
