Anoka, Minn. Sportsmen and women who want to get in on the action of the summer’s premier outdoors show won’t want to miss the final weekend of Game Fair, Aug. 15-17, at Armstrong Ranch Kennels in Anoka. Show hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Game Fair’s lineup includes dog events, archery shoots, shotgun shooting, and games for kids. There’s also a full slate of seminars featuring some of the best in outdoors sports. Running down deer results in hefty fines

Sturgeon Bay, Wis. Four Door County men and three juveniles racked up $20,546 in fines, 18 years worth of license revocation, 395 days of jail time, and the forced sale of one truck because they used pickup trucks to intentionally whack, smack, and stack at least 30 deer along county roadways. Bemidji, Minn. Jim G. Reil, an information officer with the Minnesota DNR in Bemidji, died July 30 of a malignant brain tumor that was diagnosed 16 months ago. Reil was 54 years old.

Reil, a graduate of Bemidji State University, worked with the DNR as the Northwest Region information and education officer from 1987 to 2003, where he directed media relations and provided public information on DNR programs and projects. Reil is survived by his wife, Kathryn Ellen Hagen, of Bemidji, a daughter, stepson, stepdaughter, and brother.
