Bemidji, Minn. Jim G. Reil, an information officer with the Minnesota DNR in Bemidji, died July 30 of a malignant brain tumor that was diagnosed 16 months ago. Reil was 54 years old.

Reil, a graduate of Bemidji State University, worked with the DNR as the Northwest Region information and education officer from 1987 to 2003, where he directed media relations and provided public information on DNR programs and projects. Reil is survived by his wife, Kathryn Ellen Hagen, of Bemidji, a daughter, stepson, stepdaughter, and brother.
