The current campground has been subjected to flooding several times since the mid-1980s. The new campground was purchased by the DNR with help from the Minnesota Parks and Trails Council, a non-profit group. Construction should be complete by June 30, 2003.

Kent D. Snook, 24, was shot in the head while hunting with two relatives and two friends the evening of Oct. 7 in the Wrightstown Wildlife Refuge northeast of Parkers Prairie, officials said. Snook was flown to MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, N.D. and died about 12:15 a.m. the next morning.

In Minnesota, a firearms safety training certificate is required to purchase any firearms license if you were born after Dec. 31, 1979. Many states have more stringent requirements, with the state of Colorado requiring proof of hunter education and firearm safety for anyone born after Jan. 1, 1949. The DNR’s Electronic Licensing System provides duplicate
