Longer seasons are being sought because the resident Canada goose population has continued to grow. Hunters planning to hunt during the experimental portion of the season should consider assisting the DNR by contacting their local area wildlife manager for details on how to help.

St. Paul Minnesota’s 2002 Youth Waterfowl Hunting Day is Saturday, Sept. 14. Hunting opportunities on this day for young hunters will be the same as last year except that the season for canvasbacks is closed.

That means young hunters and their mentors will have to be especially careful during this year’s hunt, according to DNR officials. The now available 2002 Minnesota Waterfowl Hunting Regulations Supplement contains details about this Youth Waterfowl Day as well as other waterfowl hunting regulations.
