Isle, Minn. More than 200 teams turned out for the 2002 Wave Wackers Invitational held Thursday and Friday, June 6-7 at the Flagship Inn/Fisherman’s Wharf on the south shore of Lake Mille Lacs. From the event proceeds, $1,000 was donated to Camp Confiden
Winning the tournament was the team of Chad Mokoff, of Waseca, Minn., and Scott Hansen, of Janesville, Minn., with a combined total of 23.61 pounds of walleyes. Madison, Wis. The Wisconsin DNR is raising daily walleye limits on 127 lakes in the ceded territory in northern Wisconsin.
In April, the lakes were set at one, two, or three walleyes per day for sport anglers in order to accommodate Chippewa spearing harvest quotas. The bag limits on these lakes will be adjusted to reflect actual Chippewa spring spearing harvest totals. The new bag limits went into effect June 1. The general regulations have
St. Paul Bloomington police officers acted appropriately when they shot and killed an adult female cougar on May 30 near the Minnesota River in Bloomington, the Minnesota DNR has concluded.
Col. Bill Bernhjelm, DNR Enforcement Division director, said that “under the circumstances, the officers acted appropriately. The cougar showed no fear of them and it refused to leave the area. That is very unusual behavior for a wild cougar and a cause for concern, especially since the cougar was in an area near people’s homes
