Des Moines, Iowa Reports indicate snow geese started moving into the Riverton Wildlife Area in southwest Iowa in mid-February and are moving north as the snow cover and open water allow.

Hunting of the geese in Iowa is allowed under a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service conservation order. Hunters may take up to 20 per day with no possession limit. St. Paul Those who wish to shoot light geese as they pass through Minnesota may do so March 1 through April 30.

The harvest will occur under a federal conservation order that allows 24 states, including Minnesota, to harvest light geese after the close of the hunting seasons.
