A citizens’ oversight committee that reviews spending of the state’s pheasant stamp proceeds recommends Minnesota set a 20-year goal of building a pheasant population that can support annually 1 million roosters. Prior to substantial habitat loss during the 1960s, Minnesota hunters had killed up to 1.5 million pheasants per year.

Oakdale, Minn. The Minnesota Waterfowl Association, Minnesota Audubon Society, Fish and Wildlife Legislative Alliance, and Minnesota DNR will host the 8th Annual Minnesota Conservation Awards Dinner on Feb. 8 at the Prom Expo Center in Oakdale.
