Des Moines Nonresident deer hunting license applications are available until May 27 through Iowa’s Electronic Licensing System. Applicants may call (800) 367-1188 to apply for a license by phone.

A nonresident deer license costs $151, a habitat fee is $6, and
there is a nonrefundable $5 application fee. The number of
available licenses is the same as last year when there were 6,000
“any-deer” licenses, and 1,500 “antlerless-only” licenses
available.

Regular gun seasons run Dec. 1-5, and Dec. 8-16. The bow season
is Oct. 1 through Nov. 30 and Dec. 17 through Jan. 10, 2002. A
muzzleloader season runs Dec. 17 through Jan. 10, 2002. A season
for physically disabled hunters is Sept. 22 through Oct. 7.
