Waskish, Minn. More than 3,500 crappie anglers took part in the 2nd Annual Upper Red Lake Crappie Tournament, held March 3. About 400 crappies were weighed throughout the day.

First-place honors went to Fred Hartman, of Bemidji, who garnered $1,050 with a two-pounder. The Grand Prize drawing for an Artic Cat ATV was won by Terry Lee, of Hibbing. Next year’s contest is tentatively set for Saturday, March 2.

Minneapolis The 69th Annual Northwest Sportshow continues at the Minneapolis Convention Center.

The show has more than 600 exhibitors of outdoors-related merchandise and opportunities, including travel; hunting and angling destinations; boats and motors; hunting, fishing and camping gear; and motor homes.
