District 15 – Mille Lacs area

CO Nikki Hollinbeck (Mille Lacs Lake) assisted with the
snowmobile safety class in Onamia. She also gave a talk on furs and
animals to Cub Scout troop.

CO Bradley J. Schultz (Mora) spent time this week checking area
lakes for garbage left on the ice, and for abandoned fish houses.
Most anglers were prepared and removed their houses prior to the
heavy snow. He also worked with the Kanabec County Sheriff’s Office
on a snowmobile work detail.

CO Jeff Humphrey (Onamia) worked angling and snowmobile
enforcement throughout week, and completed youth snowmobile safety
class in Onamia.

CO Curt Rossow (Willow River) checked snowmobiles. He provided a
ride-a-long opportunity to a DNR Parks employee. He attended a Bear
Committee meeting in Grand Rapids and reports a proposed change to
a two-bear limit.

District 16 – Metro west

CO Steve Walter (Waconia) spent most of the week checking fish
houses for removal and litter. He also investigated dogs chasing
and killing deer complaints, checked snowmobilers and anglers, and
took care of nuisance animal complaints.

CO Scott Carlson (Prior Lake) checked snowmobilers and patrolled
the Minnesota Valley State Trail. He responded to a wetland
complaint in Credit River Township and issued a cease and desist

CO Kevin Neitzke (Bloomington) continued training with COC
Vanderweyst, and checked fishermen and the progress of fish house
removal. He assisted Wisconsin wardens with a deer case interview
of a Minnesota resident.

CO Rick Reller (Buffalo) was busy this week checking area lakes
for potential litter and ice shelter problems. He also attended
training for firearms instructors in St. Louis Park. Aeration
system safety checks of the area were also performed. Enforcement
action was taken for no shelter license, failure to display
identification on ice shelter, no snowmobile registration, no stud
sticker, and no snowmobile safety certification.

District 17 – Metro east

CO Marty Book (Cambridge) worked a snowmobile detail in Chisago
County where several impaired operators were arrested and several
violations were written.

CO Brad V. Schultz (Center City) taught at the COC academy,
worked on equipment transfers, checked coyote and fox hunters,
checked ski passes, performed parks and snowmobile enforcement, and
had a ride along.

CO Lisa Kruse (White Bear Lake) did aeration system inspections,
assisted with a deer removal program, and worked snowmobile and
fishing enforcement.

CO Vuthy Pril (ELCOP) contacted a Highland Park High School
counselor regarding a career presentation. CO Pril will speak to a
group of students at Highland Park Jr. High about conservation
officer duties and his experience.

CO Leland Owens (Anoka) is investigating a few fish houses that
have been left at public accesses.

CO Chad Sherack (Maplewood) checked anglers on area lakes and
rivers throughout the week and found many anglers removing shelters
early to beat the deadline. Many left garbage and shelter floors on
the ice.

District 18 – Rochester area

Officer Tyler Quandt (Red Wing) reports that Excel Energy will
be starting up a warmwater discharge plant soon and that will more
than likely be affecting ice conditions downstream of its Red Wing

Officer/Pilot Fred Petersen (Winona) reports flying deer surveys
out of Windom.

Officer Dean Olson (Rochester) instructed at the CO Academy.
Olson also attended a Minnesota weapons collectors show in St.
Paul. In addition, he assisted the city of Rochester with crow

Officer Scott Moran (Lake City) inspected a game farm and new
license applicant.

State Conservation Officer Larry Webinger (LaCrescent) reports
attending the Boundary Area Commission meeting with law
enforcement. He worked on fish snagging complaints at the Dresbach
and Genoa dams. In addition, Webinger reports continuing snowmobile
activity in his area.
