St. Paul The deadline for removing fish houses, dark houses, and portable shelters from state waterways south of Minnesota Hwy. 200 and U.S. Hwy. 2 is no later than midnight, Feb. 28.
Shelters located north of Minnesota Hwy. 200 and U.S. Hwy. 2
must be removed no later than midnight, March 15. Exceptions are:
Minnesota-Canada border waters (March 31), Minnesota-Iowa border
(Feb. 20), Minnesota-South Dakota and North Dakota border waters
(March 5), and Minn.-Wisconsin border waters (March 1).
Anglers are advised to remove shelters earlier if ice conditions
warrant as mild winter weather can cause ice conditions to
deteriorate rapidly. Check ice thickness by using an auger or spud
bar before venturing onto a frozen pond, lake, or river.
