Crandon, Wis. A Crandon, Wis., man was convicted for his role in shooting a bald eagle in Forest County (Wis.) earlier this year.
Richard Allen Marvin, was convicted of driving the truck from
which Michael Pagel shot the eagle on March 17, 2000. Pagel pleaded
guilty to the crime and will be sentenced next month.
Marvin was fined $1,000 plus $500 in restitution and a $25
special assessment. He was placed on federal probation for one year
and is barred from hunting during that time. He also must complete
50 hours of community service work.
The eagles are federally protected under the Eagle Protection
Act, though they were removed from Wisconsin’s Endangered
Threatened list in 1997.
