Walleye bite remains strong on Lake Erie, with fish seemingly getting longer as you move east. And here’s a lake to look out for.

Water temperatures continued to climb this past week, which has made catching fish more difficult, especially during the day. You’ll want to cover water with crankbaits or some form of live-bait rig for walleyes on

Based on results of a DNR survey last summer, it appears as though the return of bass and panfish has begun in earnest. While their numbers still aren’t where they were prior to that major

Several ponds and stream sections hold panfish, bass, pike and trout.

Angler was pulling crankbaits in about 110 feet of water, hoping to find walleyes suspended in the water column. Instead, he landed a big rainbow that measured 241⁄4 inches.

Walleyes, crappies and bass need to be coaxed into biting because they have numerous food choices and the lakes are loaded with young-of-the-year minnows.

In the end, grilling whole fish isn’t rocket science. The more you do it, the better you’ll get at it.

If you’re trying to take your fishing to the next level, having the right tackle box is one way to do it.
