Gear for the 2019-20 ice-fishing season has a heavy slant towards larger baits, continued innovations in plastics, fly fishing or in-line reels, and even more emphasis on tungsten jigs and lures.

A few lucky ice anglers were able to get out on some of the smaller waters, but we’re not sure of the current conditions and don’t feel comfortable at this stage of the game in

Anglers are urged to step cautiously when at wild trout waters to avoid harming redds, as brown and brook trout are spawning at this time of year.

As we transition into early winter, when the weather has cooperated, anglers are having success.

For the most part across the state, fishing pressure has been light.
