About 1,150 students from 59 schools participated in the 2018 spring season. That’s up from 370 kids and 19 schools in 2017, and 128 students from five teams in 2016.

MCAC has teamed up with the USA High School Clay Target League to offer a new sanctioned varsity sport – clay target shooting – to begin this fall.

Held July 8-15 at the Cardinal Shooting Center, more than 2,300 athletes representing 29 states competed in the shooting disciplines of trap, skeet and sporting clays.

Tournament was the culmination of a Minnesota State High School League clay target season that saw 11,300 individuals and 345 teams participate.

It was a fitting finish to the nine-day shooting extravaganza.

Perham also has a strong showing, finishing first in five of the categories as well.

Dupont and SM-A both earn overall, varsity titles on Day 7 of 9-day shooting event.
