An endangered species in Illinois, the effort’s goal is to restore the osprey as a nesting species in the state.
Units reportedly will provide information about dangers that confront migrating ospreys, such as predatory great-horned owls.
Osprey brought to the state in 2003 still raising offspring.
Peregrine falcons, prairie chickens, osprey headline upcoming Iowa gatherings.
The surveys documented 172 nesting or territorial pairs of bald eagles in New Jersey, up from 161 the previous year, and 42 new osprey nests were counted for a record total of 515.
Growing population and geographical distribution warrant change.
