On the south end, ice fishing has begun for a number of resorts and outfitters across the south end of the lake. The bite is excellent in most areas. Widespread reports of limits of fish

Until ice up, there were a few hardcore anglers jigging with emerald shiners from about 12 – 24 feet of water and catching some nice walleyes on the Rainy River.

Back bays are iced up. The lake and larger bays are still wide open.

Jigging with emerald shiners, rainbows or fatheads is working well.

Some anglers are still trolling lead core and catching walleyes and saugers, but most anglers are jigging with great success.
