Anglers in northeast Ohio are gearing up for some ice fishing, which could be in the offing in coming days, particularly on Lake Milton.

Anglers are catching better numbers of walleyes, especially early and late each day, with 15 to 20 feet of water being best in most areas.

With about a foot of ice on most area lakes now, the walleye bite is going strong – but ice anglers are seeing a very small window for success.

Minnows certainly catch fish, and you might want to keep them alive to give finesse plastics some added “flavor” and to mask some of the scent on your fingers.
