It is March and the ice conditions are still very good. With more stable weather heading in, expect the walleye and perch bite to only keep getting better this month.
There’s still plenty of snow on the area lakes, plenty of strong ice, accesses are in excellent shape (as of today), and the fish are biting. Not seeing much for “late ice” patterns yet –
It’s important to get your lure in the proper depth of the water column.
Winter defintely put the smack-down on fishing this past week with the heavy snow and strong winds. Getting around on area lakes has defintely gotten tougher after the snowfall, but not impossible.
It has been a cold one this week. Look to downsize and slow down presentations while we move through this cold front.
Lots to do here after the recent snowstorm – including ice fishing, with some good ice still out there. But stay away from the smaller lakes. And how about the northern pike bite.
Having trouble keeping up with the perch bite – for a while. But that’s the way it’s been all winter – hot and cold.
