The number of good walleyes being caught has definitely decreased because of the heat, but hopefully, expected cooler temps will improve the bite.
The walleye and perch bite has been impacted by the changing weather, but some lakes like Bitter continue to produce walleyes.

Trolling cranks has been the ticket, but don’t overlook the shallows.

Despite the heat and having to dodge storms, quite a few walleyes have been caught lately. The best presentations have been pulling crankbaits or using crawlers on Slow Death or Search baits.
Think deep if you plan to fish Buckeye State waters right now. Catfish and crappies in particular are laying in the deep water, ready to ambush a quick meal.
“Tackle” Terry Tuma suggests using a smaller bait when fishing in colder water and when there is a lot of fishing pressure. Use a larger swimbait when fish are more active.
The key word this week – adapt.
