Bowhunters across the state can expect to find favorable conditions for a successful archery season this fall.

At its August meeting in Lansing, the Natural Resources Commission adopted changes to the Michigan Surveillance and Response Plan for Chronic Wasting Disease of Free-Ranging and Privately Owned Cervids.

Increased numbers of breeding ducks and geese in North America, a 60-day duck season, and a whopping 92-day goose season all seem to point to a great fall for waterfowl hunters.

Hunters who plan to bait deer this season can expect to pay more for vegetables due to a combination of poor growing conditions and increasing production costs.

Even though bear numbers may be down in portions of the areas open to bear hunting in the state, hunters who obtained tags in the annual drawing this year may not notice it.
