Salmon fishing was strong all across the northwestern Lower Peninsula.
Salmon moving closer to shore, trickling into rivers. A look at the Michigan fishing report from across the state on Aug. 23, 2024.
Anglers reported catching good numbers of lake trout when jigging or trolling here.
Nice, big kings are being caught on the Great Lakes. Variety the name of the game on inland lakes.
The fishing started to pick up again in this area as anglers were catching good numbers of perch within the channel using minnows, leeches, and crawlers.

The panfish bite here has picked up, and a state record river redhorse was found bowfishing.
Overall, walleye fishing remains strong, particularly on these fisheries.
