The most recent DNR survey turned up 15 fish species, including 2,471 walleyes averaging 15.3 inches and 1,861 pike averaging 19.4 inches.

Elephant’s lack of size is more than made up for by its fishing opportunities. With the exception of muskies, it seems to offer everything an angler could want in a lake.

The combination of successful stocking and natural reproduction has significantly improved the fishery.

From a fishery perspective, anglers catch a little bit of a lot of species with a spotlight on walleyes and northern pike. Panfish, muskies and smallmouth bass also attract a good amount of angling attention.

This thin ribbon of water in Clermont County is only 161 acres in size, but it is loaded with catfish.
