Newton Lake, Jasper County

DNR’s annual survey of the lake revealed that the size structure of the bass population has changed from past surveys.

A good forage base has led to some fat muskies and a growing number of healthy walleyes.

Braidwood Lake, Will County

Several reports of nice largemouths – and even some hybrid striped bass – being pulled out of the Will County cooling lake were made throughout the month of March.

Lake Shabbona, DeKalb County

And eading into the spring 2022 fishing season, muskie anglers especially have reason to be eager, given DNR’s findings during its surveys.

Washington County Lake, Washington County

Three other bass exceeded 6½ pounds and more than a handful were at least 6 pounds. All which makes 2022 an exciting time for anglers who plan to visit the southern Illinois lake.

Sangchris Lake, Christian/Sangamon counties

Sangchris holds state records for flathead catfish and striped bass, and crappie fishing has been popular with regular visitors to the central Illinois site.

Mautino’s Lakes, Bureau County

Over a dozen lakes ranging in size from half an acre to 15 acres dot the landscape. Each body of water holds fish and each body of water has its own unique quality.

East Fork Lake, Richland County

According to DNR’s data from fishing tournaments held over the summer, the largest largemouth weighed in at just under 7 pounds. Two more topped 6 pounds while several others came in between 5 and 6 pounds.
