Lake St. Clair Rain and high winds kept Lake St. Clair churned up last week and fishing was slow. When the water was clear, catch-and-release bass fishing was red hot all over the lake. Turkey
Saginaw Bay Area Steelhead fishing remains pretty good on the AuGres and Rifle rivers. Suckers also are in the Rifle and the bite has been very good at Omer. Walleye fishing has improved in Saginaw
East Jordan Area Walleye fishing is starting to heat up on Lake Charlevoix off the docks in East Jordan. The water temperature is still in the 40s, but the night bite has been pretty good.
Pickford Area The pike, muskie, and walleye opener started out slowly, with rain and sub-40-degree temperatures keeping most anglers indoors. Fishing pressure was light. Perch fishing has been good in Lake Huron at Cedarville. Turkey
Lake Erie — Anglers were catching walleyes around the old Hammermill plant on the east side. Numbers of lake trout up to 17 pounds were hitting off Northeast. Presque Isle Bay (Erie County) — Good
Ohio River — As conditions allowed, smallmouth bass were released in early May. Lake Rowena, Duman Dam (Cambria County) — Trout were reported in recent weeks. North Branch Blacklick Creek (Cambria County) — Trout up
Big Fishing Creek (Clinton County) — Above average flow in the 50s and good color were reported May 10. A few sulphurs were spotted along with midges, Tan Caddis and Craneflies. TCO Fly Shop recommended
Little Juniata River (Huntingdon County) — Near-perfect flow and water in the 50s were reported May 10. TCO Fly Shop said sulphurs were spotted along with tan caddis and craneflies. Grannoms were past their prime
Beltzville Lake (Carbon County) — Striped bass were reported on chicken livers in the upper reaches of Pohopoco Creek bay and the Pine Run area in recent weeks. Mauch Chunk Lake (Carbon County) — Nice-size
