St. Paul The Minnesota DNR has directed the state’s fire wardens to discontinue issuing open burning permits as a result of a strike by state employees. All burning permits already issued were revoked as of midnight, Sept. 30.
Olin Phillips, of the DNR Division of Forestry, said plans were in place and resources available in the event of wild fire, but that burning restrictions were an “appropriate precaution under these circumstances.” The restriction doesn’t include campfires and other activities that don’t require burning permits.
