Pennsylvania hunters harvested about 11% more deer in the 2024-25 hunting seasons than they did the year before, according to recently released Pennsylvania Game Commission estimates.
The statewide 2024-25 harvest is estimated at 476,880 deer, 175,280 of them antlered deer and 301,600 antlerless. By comparison, the statewide 2023-24 harvest was estimated at 430,010 deer.
Their training now complete, Pennsylvania’s newest state game wardens are working in their newly assigned districts.

The Pennsylvania Game Commission, in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, recently announced two deer have tested positive for chronic wasting disease in a new area of Pennsylvania.
The two deer, one hunter harvested and one from a captive facility, were detected in Luzerne County. Both deer were adult males.

The Pennsylvania Game Commission is asking for the public’s help finding turkey flocks to trap for ongoing projects.
Pennsylvanians are encouraged to report the location of any turkey flocks they see across the state. Information is being collected online now through March 15.

And in Armstrong and York counties, where new Deer Management Assistance Program units have been established in response to new CWD detections, hunters can purchase additional tags to hunt and harvest antlerless deer.
