A new Minnesota catch-and-release record is in the books as Ben Erb of Bemidji landed a 31 1⁄2-inch bowfin on the Mississippi River in Beltrami County July 3.
Erb generally practices catch-and-release. He said the bowfin is a relatively new species in the catch-and-release record books, having only been added a few years ago. But this isn’t the first time his name has sat atop the record list.
