Penn State entomologist Michael Skvarla is glad to have taken part in a clinical trial for a Lyme disease vaccine that Pfizer and Valneva are hoping to bring to market.
In his work, Skvarla is exposed to all kinds of bugs including blacklegged ticks, which spread Lyme and other serious infections.
“I’m in the field a lot so I’m at really high risk,” Skvarla said, noting he has gotten more than a few tick bites over the years.
