A new stocking policy for Irondequoit Creek, in Monroe County, N.Y., is raising the ire of many local fishermen – but not all of them. Starting in 2026, Irondequoit Creek will no longer be stocked with brown trout by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
In a background statement from the agency, Irondequoit Creek is a 36-mile-long tributary to Irondequoit Bay and Lake Ontario and DEC recognizes its popularity as a fishing destination for anglers of all levels.
