Bass tournaments at Octoraro Lake in Chester and Lancaster counties sometimes come with a bonus – a side pot for northern snakeheads. The sleek, hard-fighting fish has acquired a following since it first surfaced in the 622-acre reservoir in the summer of 2018.
“We have casual snakehead anglers, and die-hards, and at least a dozen bowhunters,” said Jim Neary, owner of his namesake tackle shop on the lake. “A lot of guys get snakehead fever when they’re fishing for bass with spinnerbaits and topwaters.”
