Wisconsin’s Natural Resources Board (NRB) approved an emergency order allowing anglers to harvest more round gobies from Lake Winnebago at the board’s May 27 meeting.
Kari Lee-Zimmermann, fisheries regulations and policy specialist for the DNR, explained that the round goby is a non-native invasive fish that can displace native fish.
“They are not established in the Winnebago system, but they have been found,” Zimmermann said.
