Catch-and-release anglers have been hooking rainbow trout for nearly two weeks now, meaning it’s time for those hungry for the “nice eating size” fish to try their luck.
The regular Illinois trout season opens April 4 at 58 sites. Speaking of sites, the spring 2026 season comes with a handful of changes in northern and central parts of the state.
