Minnesota tribal member hunts to help his band’s elders
Mike Kornezos believes that helping others is the right thing to do, and this fall the Bois Forte Band of Chippewa member is doing his best to make life easier for his fellow Native American elders.
“When I was a kid, my grandma used to tell us that we must make sure we always take care of the elders. When we hunted rabbits, ducks, deer, or other animals, we must always give some to the elders who can’t hunt themselves,” Kornezos said.

Add Allegan County to Michigan’s CWD-positive list
Allegan is now the 17th Michigan county where chronic wasting disease has been identified in the wild deer population, according to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. An emaciated doe reported by residents of Leighton Township recently tested positive for the disease.
CWD was confirmed by the Wisconsin Diagnostic Laboratory.
