Sawyer County land swap solves trespass issue within Wisconsin state forest

Under the title of “always get a survey before building,” the Wisconsin Natural Resources Board (NRB) approved the exchange of a small parcel of land within the Flambeau River State Forest in order to resolve a homeowner trespass situation.
Terry Bay, DNR Bureau of Facilities and Lands director, proposed that the DNR exchange one acre of state land for 6.7 acres of land owned by Larry and Debra Lucht, of Loyal.

Bruce Kohn, noted Wisconsin wildlife research leader, dies at age 80

Wisconsin wildlife science experienced the loss of a legend with the passing of Bruce Kohn on May 22. Kohn served a 30-year career with Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) as a research biologist stationed in Rhinelander.
Kohn began his career as part of the northern forest “game” group and his projects included work on deer, otter, fisher, American marten, gray wolves, beaver, bear, and bobcat.

Ducks Unlimited, Wisconsin DNR collaborate on Brillion wetland project

Ducks Unlimited (DU) and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) are about to embark on a wetland project on the North Branch of the Manitowoc River on the northwest side of the Brillion State Wildlife Area in Calumet County.
Gov. Tony Evers said his administration has been working to support this wetland project using mostly existing and readily available state resources.
