The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation recently announced the launch of a $100 million freshwater fish hatchery modernization plan at fish hatcheries across New York.
The funding supports the first of three phases of modernization projects for 12 hatcheries operated by DEC, which said the hatcheries are integral to effective fisheries management and conservation, and contribute up to $5 billion in economic benefits provided by New York’s recreational freshwater fishing industry.
